The Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning swapped goaltenders on Monday. Heading to Montreal is Karri Ramo, while Cedrick Desjardins will join the Lightning. The 24-year old Ramo played 44 games with Omsk in the Kontinental Hockey League in 2009-10.
The Chicago Blackhawks have signed forward Fernando Pisani to a one-year, one-way contract worth $500,000. Pisani was an unrestricted free agent who played his first seven seasons with the Edmonton Oilers.
The Atlanta Thrashers signed free agent defenseman Freddy Meyer on Thursday. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that it is a one-year, two-way deal that would see the blueliner earn $500,000 at the NHL level and $105,000 at the AHL level.
Holmgren told CSNPhilly.com that he has had conversations with agent Rick Curran on re-signing Carter and expects to delve more into the details during the fall. Holmgren also wants to begin negotiations to re-sign Giroux. “I’ve talked a little bit with Rick Curran about Jeff,” Holmgren said. “I think over the next few months we will get involved there. With Claude, Larry Kelly is his agent. I am hoping he comes down here during training camp so we can look into it.” Both players will be restricted free agents after 2010-11.
